Paul Justin


Since assuming responsibility for the current geography, Paul has reorganized and bolstered the development and support to an unprecedented level for financial planners serving the needs of our clients. His mission is to provide Southern Californians affordable access to the most caring, most competent, best supported advisors anywhere. As financial planning has become increasing complex, the advisor’s firm must be substantially committed to providing the them with resources and support that will allow the advisor time to both stay up to date on the frequent changes in the problems and solutions available to our clients, as well as to maintain the close and frequent contact with their clients necessary to help our clients reach their goals. 


With his experience as the President and CEO of ICG Advisors, Paul felt the client was better served by an advisor affiliated with a large firm able to fund the significant investments in software, technology and other resources required to provide the best advice anywhere, while still keeping fees affordable. After an exhaustive search, he felt that MetLife best met the criteria and he joined them in 2001. As the results of the strategy substantiated his initiatives, his territorial responsibilities increased to the current level. Paul is an industry thought leader in financial planning, particularly in the area of practice management. He has been interviewed by various media on different aspects of financial planning.

From 1995 to 2001, Paul served as Chief Executive Officer and President of Independence Capital Group, Inc., and Chief Executive Officer of ICG Advisors, LLC.  From 1990 to 1995, Paul served as a manager with Allmerica Financial.  From 1986 to 1990, Paul was a Financial Consultant with Equitable Financial Services (now AXA Advisors).

Paul has served as Chairman of the Board and President of the San Diego Chapter of the Financial Planning Association, one of the nation’s largest chapters.  Under Paul’s Presidency, the Chapter achieved it’s first Gold Award for quality and frequency of programs, membership increase, and overall excellence.

Paul’s offices were key participants in many of MetLife’s financial planning, marketing, technology and compliance pilot programs.  The Pacific South Coast office attained Chairman’s Council status in 2008.  Paul currently serves on, or has served on, the Managing Directors Advisory Council, the Financial Planning Managers Advisory Council, the Recruiting, Selection and Training Advisory Council, the Securities Advisory Council, the Wealth Strategies Group Advisory Council and the Managers Marketing Advisory Council.  He has been a featured speaker at National Management Meetings as well as at The National Financial Planning Symposium. He has been a GAMA National Management Award recipient every year since 1996. 



Paul holds a Bachelor’s degree in Finance and Banking. He is a Chartered Financial Consultant, a Certified Financial Planner® certificant from the Certified Financial Planning Board of Standards, and a Chartered Life Underwriter. He is also a general securities representative and principal.
